Johnson & Johnson Hip Replacement Lawsuits Consolidated in Ohio

Last week a judicial panel announced that all pretrial proceedings in federal lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson relating to recalled hip replacement devices will be overseen by U.S. District Judge David A. Katz in a federal court in Toledo, Ohio. The judge will supervise the evidence-gathering efforts in the case.

Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics unit recalled the ASR XL Acetabular System on August 26 after reports that the implants stopped functioning properly, typically requiring a second surgery to correct the first one.

Steve Baron, shareholder at Baron & Budd, was interviewed in Bloomberg Businessweek about the lawsuit consolidation. Read more about it here.
