The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Safety Communication in 2014 reporting several adverse events experienced by patients who had a surgical hernia mesh implanted in their body. In September 2016, a Florida woman sued Ethicon (a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary), the maker of the Physiomesh device.
